Legal Assistant - $65,000-$75,000 | Southfield, MI

Full-Time | Plaintiff Medical Malpractice Litigation

Our Southfield-based law firm is seeking an experienced Legal Assistant with 2-5 years of plaintiff-side medical malpractice litigation experience. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and able to manage a high-volume caseload while working closely with an attorney and paralegal as part of a collaborative legal team.


Key Responsibilities

  • Accurately docket and maintain calendar entries, including all deadlines and case dates
  • Demonstrate strong proficiency in Microsoft Word
  • Utilize Needles or Neos case management software
  • Conduct client updates every three months
  • Prepare documents for service and filing (including e-filing and paper filing)
  • Obtain Probate records and confirm appropriate personal representative, conservator, or next friend
  • Coordinate with experts and send required materials for review prior to depositions
  • Obtain, track, and update lien information
  • Process invoices and manage related documentation
  • Schedule depositions, telephone conferences, and other case-related meetings
  • Secure signed authorizations when needed
  • Maintain organized, up-to-date case files
  • Prepare status reports for the attorney
  • Assist with trial preparation, including document organization and filings

Qualifications

  • 2-5 years of experience in plaintiff medical malpractice litigation (required)
  • Proficiency in Word and Needles/Neos
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage a high-volume caseload
  • Excellent communication skills and professionalism in client interactions
  • Ability to work efficiently on a team in a fast-paced legal environment

Compensation

$65,000-$75,000, based on experience.
